Stilwell Cultural Consulting

Vision-Oriented Planning for the arts, culture and creative industry

Vision-Oriented Arts & Culture Planning

We believe in the incredible impact arts and culture can have on every community. Our mission is to create strategies and roadmaps for building, growing and sustaining arts and culture within communities, energizing and bolstering arts and culture organizations, and building vibrant and thriving places where creativity can flourish and inspire everyone.
About Us

After serving in public sector arts and culture for more than 25 years, Jill Stilwell founded
Stilwell Cultural Consulting in 2015 as a woman-owned firm focusing on vision-oriented planning specifically for the arts and culture industry. To benefit her clients, she leverages her years of experience as the Cultural Services Director for the City of Fort Collins and as a museum executive director and curator into cultural planning, strategic planning, community engagement, and performing arts, visual arts, and museum operations and management analysis. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, her firm takes on a variety of planning projects and brings teams together to best serve each client's needs. â€‹

About Me

Jill Stilwell is a forward-thinking strategist who excels at visualizing the future while meticulously analyzing the steps and moving parts needed to achieve it. With a deep passion for arts and cultural planning, Jill has carved out a niche where she can focus on what she truly loves—planning for the future—and leverage her extensive knowledge, expertise, and experience for the benefit of her clients.

Before founding Stilwell Cultural Consulting, Jill served as the Cultural Services Director for the City of Fort Collins for 13 years. She oversaw various cultural assets, drafted the city’s first Cultural Plan, and managed major projects including the $8.4 million renovation of the Fort Collins Lincoln Center and the $27 million public/private Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. Jill also led the effort to establish the Downtown Fort Collins Creative District. She has an extensive background in the museum field, having worked in curatorial roles and as an executive director.

Jill's ability to envision the future and methodically plan every detail makes her an invaluable asset to clients looking to navigate the complexities of arts and cultural planning. She is a certified facilitation specialist in planning effective public participation through IAP2 and shares her wealth of knowledge with graduate students as a Senior Instructor of Arts Management at Colorado State University.
